You can now try Edge's new vertical tabs and a revamped history
Table of contents:
Microsoft continues to add improvements to its new Chromium-powered Edge browser. Yesterday we saw new extensions to improve its usability and now it's time to discover a rather striking one such as the tabs located vertically within the browser.
Edge introduces a curious functionality, since the location and shape of the tabs has been something that has remained almost unchanged since the beginning of time. Now with the new tabs in vertical format, Microsoft wants to improve the user experience and offer a differentiating feature.
At the touch of a button
Edge shares the Chromium base, which for example enables it to take advantage of all the extensions and themes that it uses. Now with vertical tabs, Microsoft adds a feature of its own.
The browser now allows vertical tabs, so that they are placed on the left side of the browser, moving from their traditional location in the upper area. This could cause you to lose sight of them or the page, something that Microsoft has solved by showing only an identifying icon that enlarges when you hover over them.
Microsoft claims that this distribution allows for better usability. The tabs are reduced to the minimum expression but they continue to show all the information when using the pointer, since a vertical bar opens showing the name of each tab that the rest of the time it is hidden.
But this is not the only change, as Microsoft now allows access to history as a drop-down menu with a right sidebar with a very similar to what the tabs on the left sidebar display.
In addition, they have optimized performance and Microsoft says they have improved performance with the launch of Edge, which now runs between 29% and 41%faster than before.
Bing Improvements
And when it comes to Bing, Microsoft has also introduced improvements. On the one hand adds an image recognition function similar to Google Lens so that you just select an image and Bing will search for similar results.
In addition, when we perform a search, Bing will now display organized and structured information on specific topics, organizing the results in a more logical way and organized.
