Microsoft continues to add constant improvements to the current version of Edge. Contrast this dynamism with the stagnation suffered by the Legacy version of Edge. And it is that you can already try the new capacity that has already arrived at Edge to work with stored passwords

With the latest update that we can download from Edge, we can access a practical improvement such as the ability to import passwords in CSV format if, for example, we already have them stored in another browser, in the case of Chrome or Firefox.

How to import passwords into Edge

The CSV file format (Comma Separated Values) or values separated by commas, is a text file in which the characters , as the name suggests, are separated by commas, creating a kind of table where those passwords are stored. This format is what makes them highly compatible with Excel.

When we want to export the passwords stored, for example, in Chrome or Firefox, one of the options we find is to do it in a CSV file. And that is the capability that we can now take advantage of in Edge, using those CSV files that we created.

"

The new function for now can only be tested in the Canary version and is, however, disabled, so we have to enter the flags>edge://flags menu in the Edge address bar and search for the command Password ImportAt this point it is best to use the search box."

"Once the Password Import section is found, we have to move the toggle to Enabled and restart Edge . At that point, with the feature enabled, we can already import passwords from various sources from Edge&39;s Settings menu. And to do it we have two methods."

"

For the first, just click on the three points that give us access to the menu Settings and enter Setting. Once inside, click on Profiles>PasswordsWe will see three points on which to click to find the option Import Passwords There we must choose the option Password CSV File "

"

The second method is the same in the first part. Enter the Settings menu and then in Settings Once inside, click on Profiles and among the options we look for Import browser data We will see a series of options (favorites, personal information, payment information…) and we mark only passwords. "

"

Now, where it says above Import from press and choose Password CSV File , choosing the file in which we have previously exported the data from another browser."

Remember that you can download the new version of Edge in any of its three development channels from this link and that after its enablement in Canary, it shouldn't take a long time to get to stable version.
