Edge is updated again within the Dev Channel: the translation improves with the arrival of new languages
Table of contents:
Like every week, Microsoft once again launches the corresponding update for its brand new browser within the Insider Program. We are talking about the Edge Channel, whose version 85.0.538.0 can now be downloaded from the website along with the other two channels (Canary and Beta).
Build 85.0.538.0 released for Edge on the Dev Channel comes with improvements to the translation process by adding new languages and with the classic and expected bug fixes already present in previous versions and performance improvements.
New functions
- Added new languages supported for translation of page content.
- Added support for the TLS Cipher Suite Deny List management policy. Updated Administrative Templates are expected later.
- Add the Win HTTP Proxy Resolver Enabled management policy to control how Microsoft Edge interacts with Windows proxy resolver. Note that this policy is already deprecated, and Administrative Templates will come later.
Operation improvements
- Fixes a bug where opening an InPrivate or Guest window could crash the browser.
- Fixed an issue where when opening a PDF would cause the error message when opening a PDF.
- On Mac, the bug that caused the use of the touch bar to play video to sometimes block the web page has been fixed.
- Fix a bug that caused a crash when using Collections.
- Fixed an issue that caused an error when uninstalling a website installed as an application.
- Fixes a bug that caused an error when importing passwords from another browser.
Behavior improvements
- Fixed a mouse bug that caused the mouse to sometimes disappear.
- Fixed an issue with Bluetooth audio sometimes not working with some speakers.
- Fixes a bug on Mac that caused users who logged in to the browser with work or school accounts to experience errors with sync or browser login.
- Also on Mac, fixes an issue where the Touch Bar sometimes didn't display necessary video controls when playing multiple videos in a row. "
- Fixes an issue where downloads sometimes do not appear on the download management page when performing Smartscreen actions in downloaded files." "
- A bug that made the menu … > Applications>"
- Fixed a bug that caused the first run experience to sometimes display over and over again, without letting it run will use the browser.
Known bugs in this build
- Clicking links through external applications while Edge is preparing to perform an update may cause these links to fail to load. The solution is to restart Edge to apply the update and wait for the solution next week.
- Users of Kaspersky Internet Suite with the associated extension installed may sometimes see web pages such as Gmail not loading. This error is caused by the fact that Kaspersky's core software is outdated and therefore can be fixed by making sure the latest version is installed.
- Some users are seeing duplicate bookmarks after previous fixes in that area. The solution is to install the stable version of Edge and sign in with an account that is already signed in to Edge.Fixing this should be easier now that the deduplication tool is available.
- After an initial fix, some users are still experiencing Edge windows turning completely black. Opening the browser's Task Manager (keyboard shortcut is shift + esc) and killing the GPU process usually fixes it. Note that this only seems to affect users with certain hardware and is most easily triggered by resizing an Edge window.
-
"
- Some users see wobble behavior>"
- There are some issues where users with multiple audio output devices sometimes do not receive any sound from Edge. In one case, Edge is muted in Windows Volume Mixer and turning it on fixes it. In another, restarting the browser fixes it.
Remember that this version already shows the improvements that have previously been tested within the Canary Channel. You can now download the new Edge at this link on any of the channels on the platforms on which it is available. If you already have it installed, just go to preferences within the browser and check if you have any pending updates.
