Microsoft updates GroupMe on Android and now making group video calls is much easier
Table of contents:
At the end of the year Microsoft released a Meet Now, an update to Skype, one more possibility in an attempt to keep its messaging and calling utility attractive against the competition represented by options such as WhatsApp, Zoom or Messenger And a few days ago we saw how Meet Now took a step forward by allowing video calls with Skype in just a few clicks and doing it even if we don't have the app installed.
But we must not forget that Microsoft already had an application such as GroupMe, a chat and messaging client purchased in its day that it has lost prominence in favor of Skype and that now, with the heyday of this type of tools, it is once again gaining prominence. So much so that Microsoft has once again updated GroupMe with a new feature.
With the same base as Meet Now
Microsoft has released an update for GroupMe on Android that allows users to easily create a Skype group call. An addition that offers access to Skype within the application.
In the upper right area of the chat, users can click on the Skype symbol, at which point the application asks if we want to create a Skype group callwith all users in the room.
When we accept, a link is generated that is published in the chat, a link that when clicked, opens Skype and starts the group call to the that everyone can join with just one touch A function with the same basic concept as Skype's Meet Now.
And if Skype's Meet Now is searched to make it easier for users to establish contact with friends, family or colleagues for work, GroupMe is looking for something similar and uses Skype as a means to achieve it.
For now this enhancement is only available in GroupMe for Android and it remains to be seen if it will also reach the versions of GroupMe that can be download for Windows 10 and iOS.
