On different occasions we have echoed the bonanzas of Windows Defender. The protection system for computers with Windows that allows users who do not necessarily have to have a third-party antivirus.
Windows Defender is integrated into the system and offers protection against external threats thanks to the constant updates it receives. Updates that, however, are not free to offer problems, as seems to happen with the most recent one released by Microsoft.
Windows Defender failing?
And it seems that the new update released by Microsoft for Windows Defender has again generated problems failures reported by users in open threads for this purpose in the Microsoft forums or on Reddit. They echo a bug that causes Windows Defender to ignore a large number of files during scanning.
"When starting a virus scan with Windows Defender, the system skips files in a variable amount with the message Windows Defender Antivirus Scan skipped an item due to exclusion settings or network scan>"
The error affects only computers running Windows 10 and running Windows Defender version 4.18.2003 or later. In these cases the same message appears and does so whether you perform a manual quick scan or a full scan.
Some users claim that the failure is determined by not having excluded folders, so the system skips the folders that are not in the exclusion list.
We have just performed the test with a quick scan, looking for threats, and the system has shown a message with the same error that we have seen before, although it has only been limited to one file.
For now Microsoft has not recognized the problem and therefore there is no solution to this failure, so if you want to have If your computer is well protected and Windows Defender gives you problems, you can either opt for a third-party antivirus or an online solution.
