Microsoft Updates Edge on Dev Channel: Cookie Improvements and Silent Web Notifications Coming

Microsoft continues to update its new Edge browser, the version based on Chromium and in this sense it has just updated the one that can be downloaded within the Dev Channel, the next in the list of updates to the Canay Channel . Now Edge on the Dev Channel has build 83.0.474.0

An update that offers better management of cookies with the aim of facilitate and improve control of privacy in browsingIn turn offers quieter website notifications or the arrival of a search box to the touch bar of Mac when there is only one tab open.

Changed behavior

• Fixed an issue where Commentary screenshots are all black if the autoplay lock setting for media is set to Block.
• Fixes an issue where menus sometimes display incorrectly near the edges of the screen.
• Fixed that when typing in the address bar while pressing the left mouse button, the characters are not typed correctly.
• Fixed an issue where a tab that is restored after restarting the browser will navigate to the same page when clicked on the Back button if SmartScreen locked the page that was restored before you restarted the browser.
• Fixed some issues related to interaction with Windows for websites pinned to the taskbar.

• Fix a bug whereby websites that should be viewed in IE mode are sometimes opened in normal tabs.
• Fixed an issue where Guest mode was still available when the Force login admin policy was enabled.
• Fix a bug where an image was sometimes not added correctly to an item in a Collection and instead , it just showed a loading arrow.

Known Issues

• Some users are noticing duplicate bookmarks after adding some previous fixes in that area. The most common way to trigger this is by installing Edge's stable channel and then signing in with an account that is already signed in to Edge. Fixing this should be easier now that the deduplication tool is available. However, we've also seen duplication when running the replicator on multiple machines before any of the machines have had a chance to fully sync their changes, so while we wait for some of the fixes we've made to make it to Stable, make sure you leave plenty of time between runs of the replicator.Hope this will improve once version 81 is released to stable.
• Some users are experiencing high CPU usage in tabbing or extending processes. Usually, ending the process, for example via Task Manager, reduces CPU usage to normal. They are investigating the issue and steps to reliably reproduce this behavior would help us if anyone has any.

• After an initial fix recently, some users are still experiencing Edge windows turning completely black. Opening the browser's Task Manager (keyboard shortcut is shift + esc) and killing the GPU process usually fixes it. Note that this only seems to affect users with certain hardware and is most easily triggered by resizing an Edge window.
• Some users notice a rocking motion when scrolling using trackpad gestures or touch screens, where scrolling in one dimension also causes the page to scroll slightly back and forth in the other.Note that this only affects certain websites and seems to be worse on certain devices. This is most likely related to our ongoing work to bring scrolling back to parity with Edge Legacy behavior, so if this behavior is undesirable, you can temporarily disable it by disabling edge://flags/edge -experimental-scrolling flag.
• There are some issues where users with multiple audio output devices sometimes do not receive any sound from Edge. In one case, Edge is muted in Windows Volume Mixer and turning it on fixes it. In another, restarting the browser fixes it.
• At certain zoom levels, there is a noticeable line between the browser user interface and web content.
