Microsoft Edge wins in usability: tracking prevention arrives
Table of contents:
Yesterday Microsoft announced some of the changes that would come to its office suite par excellence. From Office 365 to being called Microsoft 365 and incidentally seeing how it grew in functions with the arrival of new tools and the strengthening of existing ones.
"And now it&39;s time to talk about the new version of Edge, the brand new Microsoft browser that, based on Chromium, is preparing to offer new possibilities to its increasingly loyal users. The new Edge will see the arrival of follow-up prevention, vertical tabs or the availability of Collections in mobile versions"
New functions
"And we start at the end, with the Collections function. A tool that until now was exclusive to Edge for PC and through which users can add articles, web pages, web content in general... to a certain Collection>"
"And now the news is that the Collections>available for Edge applications that we can find on iOS and Android And if we add synchronization to this, it can be a good measure to always have the content under control, regardless of whether you are using your mobile or PC."
Another innovation is the so-called vertical tabs, a function that Microsoft hopes to bring soon to users who make use of any of the test versions (Canary, Dev and Beta) and through which you will have access to an ordered view of the tabs that the user has opened.Located on the left of the screen, they allow the user to scroll through the list, opening the corresponding website in each one."
And to finish we must talk about monitoring prevention, a tool that allows us to choose between three pre-established settings related to security during our navigation: whether on mobile or desktop devices, we can select one of the three configurations such as Basic, Balanced or Strict. The goal is to protect us from being tracked by websites that monitor activity in the background, thus offering more control over what we see and what we don&39;t."
There are also functions such as Password Monitor, with which we can check if our passwords and passwords have been exposed, or Immersive Reader, to improve concentration when we are reading on the screen.
We'll have to wait yet to see these improvements come to Edge. What cannot be doubted is that the commitment to Chromium has only been the beginning and that this time, yes, it seems that Microsoft has achieved a browser that can stand up to Chrome and Firefox with all of the law.
