Edge Updates on the Dev Channel: Performance Improvements and Offline Play Are Coming
Table of contents:
Microsoft has released a new Edge update within the Dev Channel and it does so by providing a series of improvements and novelties, among which the addition of a game-shaped complement stands out. It's called Surfing, a way to spend leisure time that also doesn't require a network connection.
"Edge in the Dev Channel of is updated to version 82.0.432.3 and together with Surf it includes a series of improvements, a good part of which were already present in the Canary version of Edge. We see how the Share button arrives that already came in Canary, the possibility of synchronizing the configuration Allow extensions from other stores or the ability to hide the Start button."
Surf
"We start with the arrival of the most striking novelty. Once Edge has been updated to version 82.0.432.3, just type in the address bar edge://surf to access a quite addictive casual game. "
Using the control arrows, we can play a title, Surf, which now has new game modes including time trials , support for other input methods like touch and gamepads, accessibility improvements, high scores, and remastered visuals.

Known Issues
- Some users are seeing duplicate bookmarks despite past fixes and modifications. The most common way to trigger this is by installing a new Edge channel or installing Edge on another device and then signing in with an account that has already signed in to Edge before. Fixing this should be easier now that the deduplication tool is available.
- Users of certain security software packages will see all tabs fail to load with the error STATUS ACCESS VIOLATION.The only supported way to prevent this behavior is to uninstall that software. We are currently engaging with the developers of that software to test a potential fix, which we hope to bring to Dev and Canary soon.
- After an initial fix recently, some users are still experiencing Edge windows turning completely black. UI popups such as menus are not affected and opening the browser's Task Manager (keyboard shortcut is shift + esc) and killing the GPU process usually fixes it. Note that this only seems to affect users with certain hardware.
- There are some issues where users with multiple audio output devices sometimes do not receive any sound from Edge. In one case, Edge is muted in Windows Volume Mixer and turning it on fixes it. In another, restarting the browser fixes it.
- At certain zoom levels, there is a noticeable line between the browser user interface and web content.
Remember that you can download the new Edge at this link on any of the channels on the platforms on which it is available. If you already have it installed, just go to preferences within the browser and check if you have any pending updates.
