So you can activate the new multimedia button that Google is testing in the Canary version of its web browser
Normally we talk about the advantages that Microsoft is bringing to the new Edge based on Chromium but we cannot forget that there is still an abysmal gap, at least if we look at the market share between the Microsoft browser and the alternatives representing Firefox and especially Chrome
And with the latter we stay. The browser that offers the largest market share continues to improve its features and before making them reach the general public, they pass their relevant period of testing through the Beta and Canary versions And this is where they are testing their new improvement: a button to play multimedia content.
The new feature that arrives with the latest update of Chrome Canary is called Global Media Controls and as its name suggests, allows, once enabled, access to a playback control next to the URL of the page we are visiting if a playback video appears.
When clicking on it, a larger control appears that allows the user to pause, play or skip forwards or backwards in playback and do so without having to act on the controls offered by the video.
The new feature is in testing on Chrome Canary, so it may experience crashes with some websites. To access it, you have to activate it, since it is not functional by default. To do this you have to enter Chrome Canary and then access chrome://flags in the address bar."
"Once inside and as usual, we use the search box to find the global-media-controls option and mark it as activated. We restart the browser and that&39;s it, it should now appear on web pages with embedded videos."
An especially useful measure when it comes to controlling the playback of some of those videos that play automatically or even to manage the audio in videos now that Google doesn't offer the ability to mute audio directly in the tab.
