Chrome debuts a new way to access installed extensions that could also end up coming to Edge
The arrival of the new Edge seems to have been no impediment for Google to continue working on new improvements to bring to Chrome. Something that can be an advantage in the long run, since both browsers drink from the same waters and can benefit from the news that they receive reciprocally
If yesterday we saw how both Edge and Chrome in the development versions, received the possibility of muting the audio in the videos that were played in Picture-in-Picture format, now it's time to talk about an extension-related enhancement coming to Chrome
Techdows has reported on an improvement that changes the way we have interacted with the extensions that we have installed so far in our team. If we look back, we see how these have changed very little over time.
"Once downloaded and installed in the browser, we can access them well with the shortcuts that we can place in the toolbar tasks or with the extensions box that we can access through the Configuration menu."
Both options are awkward. The first, because it occupies a space that can be precious in the toolbar and the second, because of the long process involved in reaching them. Something that they want to end from Google.
And they are testing in the latest version of Chrome for developers, a new shortcut that is located in the toolbar, offers access to all the extensions that we have installed in our browser.
With the classic puzzle piece shape with which we identify the extensions tab, the gray icon offers easy and discreet access to the extensions we have in Chrome.
At the moment and by my count, is available in developer builds of Chrome 75, although I just tested it and is not present yet, so it may still take a few hours to spread.
This is an improvement for Chrome, but since it shares the engine with the new Microsoft browser, it cannot be ruled out that it ends up reaching EdgeIn the next weeks.
