Google is working on bringing Chrome to computers with Windows 10 and SoC ARM
Recently we saw how Samsung presented the evolution of its convertible under the Galaxy seal. It was the great rival for the Microsoft Surface Pro 6: the Galaxy Book2 arrived and it does so supported by the use of Qualcomm ARM processors under the premise of increasing the autonomy of our equipment
A type of laptops and convertibles that stand out for the aforementioned autonomy that we did not see at first, for their permanent connectivity and for being limited As far as power is concerned... at least in the first generation with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. The Snapdragon 850 is another story.
In these teams, however, we found a handicap. They use applications designed for this architecture and if the one we are looking for is not among them, we must either use a Progressive Web Application or use the emulator to make it work a Win32 application.
In this sense, the performance is not being remarkable, something that makes users discard its use. If the application is focused on a small market, the impact should not be noticeable, but if it is for mass consumption, it is a setback that the developer on duty will want to avoid
And that's what happens with Google Chrome. The Mountain View company does not want to lose ground to its rivals and could be considering launching a version of its browser designed to take advantage of the full potential of PCs with ARM architectureand avoid the shortcomings offered by emulation.
This is what emerges from the statements by Miguel Nunes, Qualcomm's senior director of product management, in which he stated that they are working with some developers to offer a _port_ from Chrome for ARM PCs:
It is to be hoped that Google Chrome on computers with ARM will not arrive with the exclusivity seal for some brands and that it can be used in all compatible devices on the market. It has given what could be a deadline or a wish: that Chrome for ARM arrives in the first half of 2019, but we will still have to wait to see if it is finally a wish or a reality.
We also remember that the relationship between Google and Chrome with Microsoft, has had a path full of thorns As an example, the moment in which from Google they published in the Microsoft Store a version of Chrome that the following day was eliminated by Microsoft for violating the policy of the application store.
