With the latest update, Opera makes the dream of many possible: it is now compatible with Chrome extensions
Table of contents:
Having browser extensions today is synonymous with almost guaranteed success. It is enough to see how Chrome and Firefox are the two most used models, those with the largest number of extensions. We are not going to assess the quality of them or if the abuse of the extensions worsens our experience and the performance of our team. The extensions are there and all that remains is to know how to take advantage of them
We have mentioned Chrome and Firefox as the two most used browsers and along the way we have left Edge, which is far behind when it comes to offering interesting extensions that facilitate its use.And that is what the fourth browser in discord wants to avoid, how is Opera, an old rocker who refuses to disappear, although for this he almost has to agree with the devil. And that is what many may think when they find out that Opera is now compatible with Google Chrome extensions
Extensions come to Opera
To do this it is necessary to have version 55.0.2994.37 of Opera, regardless of the platform on which we use it (Mac or PC). Once we have updated the browser, we can proceed to install extensions from the Chrome Web Store.
To enable the new functionality we must enter Opera and go to the Chrome extensions store. Then we will see how in the upper zone it asks us if we want to add an extension that enables this compatibilityWe install it and see how we can now install the extensions that were previously exclusive to Chrome.
It is the main characteristic of this version but it is not the only one and it is that simultaneously they have arrived improvements in the Configuration Page, the which has seen how its elements are reorganized or security improvements, with warnings if we visit web pages with a secure connection.
This is another step forward by the developers of Opera to continue occupying a worthy place among browsers. Have you ever used Opera or do you still use it? How about this improvement?
