Google updates Drive backup for Windows and Mac

Anonim

Not long ago we talked about cloud storage via OneDrive and now it's time to do the same with another tool, in this case from Google: it's Google Drive. The reason is that the Mountain View company has updated its function to create backup copies of the files that we have on our computer.

It is an application available for Windows and Mac that can be downloaded from the web enabled by Google and with which we can have all our files synchronized comfortably and efficiently can be accessed from any compatible device

The new changes introduced are aimed above all at improving usability and, incidentally, they correct some existing bugs and improve operation. But among all the improvements, the one that now improves the synchronization of images in HEIF / HEIC format stands out, which translates into high-quality images but with fewer requirements Of space.

This is the most important improvement, but it's not the only one. This is the list with the novelties that this update introduces.

  • HEIF and HEIC type files are now visible in Google Photos. However, if they were synced before the update they will not be visible in Google Photos.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented some users from being able to sync additional folders.
  • Fixed a bug that caused some native apps not to appear in the list of available apps for opening files from Google Drive.
  • Fixed problem with lag on MacOS High Sierra when viewing recently taken screenshots on your desktop.
  • Fixed a display issue with sync status icons in Windows.
  • Users can now choose to sync subfolders ~/Library on macOS and %UserProfile%\AppData on Windows One exception is that subfolders of ~/Library/Application Support/Google and %UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Google cannot be selected.
