Microsoft updates Office in the Insider Program to allow you to compose documents using only your voice
Table of contents:
One of the great advantages of the Microsoft Insider Program is that of being able to access improvements before anyone else that will later reach the general publicIt has its risks, it is also true, manifested above all by the lesser stability of the system. But to mitigate it we can choose between the different rings available.
And today it is the users of the Insider Program within Office who are benefiting from a new update that brings a more than interesting functionality closer to the well-known office suite. And now users can write documents, create presentations or send emails using their voice
Without playing the keyboard
The new build for Windows Office in the Insider Program brings up a new dictation feature that allows users to use their voice to type to perform various tasks in Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote.
"The new function uses Microsoft&39;s speech recognition technology that allows us to convert our voice to text with a high degree of accuracy. The function with the name of Dictate will be, of course, only available to those who are Office 365 subscribers and can only be executed while we have an Internet connection. "
This new function also allows the use of different tools when writing documents that almost allow you not to have to touch the keyboard . So we can add punctuation marks (commas, points...), question marks, determine paragraphs...
If you meet the requirements and want to start using this new feature the steps you need to follow are as follows:
- Have the Office 365 application open
- Activate our computer's microphone
- "Select the Dictate option and when the microphone is marked in red, you can start dictation."
- The text then appears parallel to the screen as we speak.
- "When finished, click on Dictate to stop transcribing our words."
If you have used this new function you can leave your impressions about how it works in the comments. If the voice recognition is reliable and there are not many errors and, above all, if it is really useful.
