We will tell you step by step how to make a copy of the passwords saved in Chrome in a file on your PC
Table of contents:
Google Chrome is the most widely used browser and that, at this point, no one doubts. Despite its detractors, which there are and many, offers more options than the rest, although that sometimes leads to too much consumption of resources on our machines. In fact, options like Firefox have got their act together and are a great alternative. Edge is in third place and the most closed maqueros are still clinging to Safari that... well, it is far behind in terms of features.
But going back to Chrome, the truth is that part of its success is based on the large number of extensions it has and the continuous improvements it offers. We can thus synchronize our bookmarks and passwords and in relation to the latter now we can export them to our computer in a single file A complement to the backup that means having a copy on the Google cloud.
The process step by step
The enhancement has arrived with Chrome 65, with a new feature available for users accessing experimental features found at Chrome Flags. The process to export saved passwords from Chrome is very simple and here we will see it step by step.
Open the Google Chrome browser and in the search bar type Chrome: flags to access the experimental functions. We will then see a notice that alerts us that we should not touch what we do not know. We continue with this precaution."
We look for the option Password export and for this the most practical thing is to use the search box. This saves us the work of searching a list that is otherwise quite extensive."
We will then see the option we are looking for and on the right a tab to choose a value. It comes prefixed to Default and we have to change it to Activate to make the change effective."
Then we will see how in the lower left area of the screen appears a button, Relaunch in which we must press to restart Chrome and that assume the changes."
"Touch now go to the Settings within Google Chrome and once we have agreed to lower the tab until we see the access to theAdvanced configuration."
Click on Advanced Settings and go down to the manage passwords option, which already existed but is now enhanced with the changes made. "
"Once inside we will see that pressing the three points that appear at the beginning appears a new possibility called Password Export or Exportar. "
Click on the button and when we _click_ we will see a warning that warns us of the danger of downloading and saving all our passwords as a CSV file , as they will be available to anyone who accesses the file in question.
It is therefore a practical measure if we want to have a very, very safe backup copy of our access codes, but being very careful with the use we make of the file we have downloaded.
