Skype undergoes surgery and surprises us with new features and a more up-to-date design

Recently our colleagues from Xataka Android left us an interesting list with the applications that consumed the most battery, memory and storage on Android. Some applications where the ones they saw from Mark Zuckerberg's people were successful but where Microsoft also had a good representation
Specifically, Outlook and Skype were two of the most gluttonous applications that we could find on Android. And it is in reference to the latter that news arrives, because from Redmond they have decided that their messaging application should undergo surgery to adapt to current times with a renewed design that seeks to attract users of messaging services.
And it is that these services have been gaining users over time to become the queen applications of any of the application stores. WhatsApp or Telegram have tens of millions of users and in this scenario Skype had been displaced because many users still saw it as an app for video calls
A renewed Skype application that comes with new features among which are above all Highlights (Featured) so that users can create an album of photos or videos and share it individually or in groups with our contacts Something reminiscent of Snapchat or Instagram stories.
"In addition, the new main screen is divided into the Moments, Chats and Capture sections, thus seeking to create greater fluidity and personalization in conversations thanks to the possibility that now exists to customize the background color to your messages and to react to conversations with GIFs, stickers and Emojis."
Intelligent searches are promoted
"Search functionality has also been added so that we can find content that we can then use in a conversation Content that can be represented in the form of images or videos. Content that we will use within Chat, the option where we can capture conversations with our contacts. In addition, the use of bots to search for all types of content is promoted."
A new version of Skype that is already being distributed among Android terminals, while later it will reach Mac users and Windows in its desktop versions, as well as those of iOS. A version much more in line with other applications that we now find in the Microsoft catalog and that leaves behind a design that smelled old.
