The numbers do not lie: Microsoft Edge does not improve Explorer and Chrome is unreachable for now
When we talk about mythical brands within Microsoft, one that always comes to mind is Internet Explorer. It is perhaps along with Office the most recognizable label within Redmond within the Windows panorama A browser that did not know how to stand the test of time and therefore the competition and that it was replaced by Microsoft Edge.
Microsoft tried to gradually erase the bad taste that Explorer ended up leaving behind, which paled in comparison to other alternatives such as Firefox first and Google Chrome later. And yes, although it is still used today (you just have to look at the number of pages of organizations that only support Explorer and Firefox) Edge is Microsoft's commitment to the futureto conquer a piece of the pie as far as the browser market is concerned.
And it is not having it easy, despite the great campaign and all the effort made so that Windows 10 users decide to try and stay with Edge. It's included, it's efficient, it has many options but... it doesn't quite succeed.
A browser that can no longer overthrow, but even come close to the first position held by Google Chrome, especially due to some bugs that shows. So much so that Explorer continues to be the most successful browser from Redmond, although it must be recognized that it took time to achieve it; as long as little competition back then. This is the conclusion reached if we stick to the data collected by NetMarketShare for the month of March.
With the figures in hand the reign of Google Chrome seems unattainable A domain that also contrasts with the stagnation of Microsoft Edge that It doesn't work as expected from Microsoft when it was released back in the day. The figures do not lie and so while Google Chrome is used on 58.64% of computers, Microsoft Edge only enjoys an anecdotal 5.61%
So much so that Edge is surpassed by Internet Explorer with 18.95% presence and by Firefox, which has 11 , 79% market share. Microsoft Edge is the fourth browser in contention and is only above Safari, which remains at 3.37%.
There is a lot of work ahead in Redmond to reverse this situationThey have a great product on their hands and we have seen that in some comparisons, but they need to clean up the errors and above all make the user aware that Edge is a perfectly valid alternative. _Will we ever see Microsoft Edge as the most used browser?_
