Microsoft Edge once again boasts security against Google Chrome and Firefox
Table of contents:
We live in a time when browsers for searching the web have more than fierce competition. Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Safari, Opera and the king of all, Google Chrome get into controversy over which is better, which consumes less resources or which is more secure .
We have seen studies that support answers for all tastes, sometimes oriented in one direction or another according to different interests. And to all those that already existed, a new one has been added in which Microsoft Edge wins of the well-known triumvirate of browsers as the most secure.
These results have come from NSS Labs with a study that states that the default browser that comes with Windows 10 is more secure than previously thought , bypassing its Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox counterparts.
A conclusion reached after performance of different tests that sought to reflect to a greater or lesser extent the most common risks in the day to day when we move through the network. Thus, the three browsers have been subjected to different _malwares_ as well as _phising attacks_ For this, these versions have been used:
- Google Chrome: Version 53.0.2785
- Microsoft Edge 38.14393.0.0
- Mozilla Firefox: Version 48.0.2
Malware and phishing to look for weaknesses
Some tests that yielded the following figures in which Microsoft Edge is victorious. With the numbers in hand, Microsoft's browser was able to detect 91, 4% of _phishing_ attacks and block 99% of _malware_ to which it was subjected. A very high percentage that Chrome did not reach, which remained at 82.4% and 85.8% effectiveness respectively, while Firefox detected 81.4% of _phising_ attacks and 78.3% of _malware_.
If we pay attention to these figures, it seems that Microsoft got their act together and have done a great job with Microsoft Edge, giving a big leap in quality compared to Internet Explorer. In this way, and if it is not essential for you to use Chrome due to any of the extensions it has, Edge can be an interesting alternative, although it still has a long way to go to get closer to the possibilities offered by the Google browser.
