Apple confirms it will no longer support Quicktime for Windows
It was the news last week and it caused quite a stir. Quicktime for Windows was not secure due to a large security hole and everything seemed to indicate that Apple was washing its hands and did not want to know anything about the matter or offered solutions.
That a company like TrendMicro or the Department of Homeland Security tell you that the best option is to uninstall an application due to the insecurity it creates is something quite serious, but Apple's silence on the matter was even more serious, a silence that has apparently ended with an answer that, not for being expected, is still quite surprising.
And as detailed in the prestigious Wall Street Journal, Apple has confirmed that it will no longer update or support QuickTime 7 for Windows , so that all those users who have it installed already know what they have to do... remove it from their computers.
"Curious response with all the cane that in its day from Apple gave Adobe for the little security of Flash and yet now they err in a similar attitudewith a great lack of, we could say, respect, towards the users of your application. Okay, they are from the rival system, they don&39;t use Mac OS X, but they deserve at least a fair deal, or not Apple?"
In this way, Apple points out on its support page that Quicktime was necessary at the time, but it already enjoys a long life and over time is being replaced by technologies such as HTML 5 , which means that for most users there is little reason to use Quicktime on their computers.
This is how Apple does it again, like so many other companies and decides in its own way what is convenient or not for users , leaving us to be mere troupes in this great market.
As a user it doesn't affect me, because I didn't even use Quicktime (it seems an obsolete program to me) and I don't have a Windows 10 PC (Vista at the time is great), but it's still It is striking news that a company that has used the whip against security holes for so long now leaves users stranded _What is your opinion of all this matter ?_
