VLC will arrive as a universal application to the Windows 10 ecosystem

Yesterday the protagonist was Quicktime after confirmation of non-support by Apple in order to solve the serious security problems that appeared. A setback for many users, that's for sure, but at least we can count on much better alternatives, as is the case with VLC, the most popular media player.

And thanks to the information offered by Thomas Nigro in his blog, we already have news about the imminent version of VLC that was being prepared and that apparently will arrive in the form of a universal application (UWP) to the entire Windows 10 ecosystem.

In this way we can use VLC on any device with Windows 10, although the arrival to the different devices can occur in different periods due to the adaptation process that each of them may require.

And in this sense, to whet our appetite, indicates some approximate dates in which VLC would reach each range, either Windows 10 Mobile, Windows 10 for PC, Xbox One, Hololens, or IoT.

In the case of Windows 10 Mobile we will be able to have the beta of VLC next week , yes, only in the case of phones that have the Redstone Insider Preview, since with other versions it is still giving problems.

As a note of clarification, devices running Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 very soon will no longer support receive support for the current version of VLC, waiting in May for the latest update for this version of the operating system.

If you are a user of Windows 10 for PC you should know that there will be a beta, but it will be closed private and it will arrive at the beginning of May, hoping that by the end of the same month a public version can be released

Xbox One with Windows 10 is another matter, since VLC for the Microsoft console is still in an early development phase, something gives us an estimated departure date that placesthroughout the summer.

Something similar is happening with the Internet of Things (IoT), which will also delay its arrival, speaking in this case of devices such as Raspberry 2 and 3, being the Hololens which for now are on the left queue in terms of deadlines, since the development of VLC for Microsoft VR has not yet started, so they don't even dare to give deadlines

Everything indicates that we are going to run into a version of VLC very similar to the current one, with almost identical functions, at least input, because as time goes by other additional functions are expected to be implemented such as support for Continuum, the inclusion of the Picture in Picture mode (to explore our collection while the video is playing) or support for Chromecast among others.
