Windows 10 Mail and Calendar is updated adding support for dark theme and other improvements
Great news for fans of the dark visual theme of Windows 10. The Mail and Calendar apps just received a major update, both on mobile and PC, which adds compatibility with said theme, along with other customization options.
These new options can be found in the Settings of each of the applications, in a new section of Personalization From there it is possible to choose the accent color of the application (it can be the same as the rest of the system or a different one), and also choose between the light theme or the dark theme of Windows.
In addition, in PC apps there is a new option so that the background image of Mail and Calendar is displayed in the full window , and not just in the reading pane (in the screenshot below you can see what the applications look like with this change).
"Other relevant improvements are the new S/MME encryption options, the automatic use of digital signatures, and the implementation of a menu options at the bottom of the screen in the case of mobile applications, which partly replaces the functions of the hamburger menu."
Unfortunately, in this new version the link button between Mail and Calendar has been removed that allowed us to quickly jump from an application to another. Hopefully this feature will return in some future version.
With this update, the Mail and Calendar version number should jump from 17.6208 to 17.6216(we can check our current version number by going to App Settings > About). If we are still with the old version we can force the update by going to the Store > Downloads and updates > Check for updates .
Unfortunately, it seems that the new version of Mail and Calendar is releasing more slowly on Windows 10 for PC, as Many users still do not see the update in the Store. If this is our case, the only solution is to be patient and wait.
