It is very possible that those of you who are testing the latest build of Windows 10 Technical Preview have already noticed, but among the many new applications that Microsoft has introduced in this latest update we find a revamped Maps app to which voice navigation features have been added and a better system to simplify the process of searching and navigating to specific places.

But these have not been the only changes to the application, because as the Redmon company has been commissioned to tell in a new post on its Blogging Windows, the new Maps has become a Universal Application with mouse functions, gesture commands and options that aim to put it on a par with Google Maps itself.

What's new?

The greatest novelty of the application is the improved search system, which will not only help us find the site we want, but will also allow us to delimit the searches by categories to find other areas of interest in the surroundings, and will use the data from Bing and other web pages to show us information, relevant images, reviews and contact routes for some places that we can now add to a list of favorites that will be synchronizedamong our devices.

Features are inherited from HERE Drive

In addition, to make the journey of reaching selected places easier for us, this app has also been given a voice navigation system and various HERE Drive features, such as speed control warnings or day and night modes.

However, there are many other functions of HERE Drive, such as remembering to park the car, that have not been included in Maps , but until the release of the final version of its operating system, Microsoft still has plenty of time to make changes and introduce other functions that users begin to request in their feedback.

Lastly, the desktop version has also implemented up to 190 cities in 3D and a new system of street panoramas that remembers and brings closer the functions of this improved application to those of the almighty Google Maps, becoming an alternative to take into account. What do you think of the improvements?
