Google Chrome is updated bringing the flavor of Chrome OS to Windows 8
We had already told you about a development that Google had which consisted of bringing the flavor of Chrome OS to Windows 8 through run your Chrome browser from the Modern UI. But a few hours ago the browser received its usual update bringing the feature to all users.
"To have this new feature available we have to select the option to restart in Windows 8 mode from the configuration menu, or set the browser as default , close all current windows, and run it again from our home screen, so we will see Chrome with its new interface adapted to the Modern UI."
But more than adapted to the Modern UI, this interface intends to recreate the environment offered by the Chrome OS operating system from a Windows 8 application , since we will have at our disposal the option of opening several browser windows, a toolbar, and an application drawer that shows those that we have linked to our Google account.
The operation of Chrome in Modern UI is very fluid, the opening and movement of various browser tabs is fast and similar to how if we were running it from the desktop, and the snap options to share space with other applications on the screen is very well optimized. There are also notable improvements for use with touch screens.
There are also more general new features in the browser, among which we highlight the possibility of visualizing which tabs are emitting audio, as well as which ones are using our webcam or streaming content to our TV.
This latest version of Chrome is now available for download, or if you have it installed, you should have updated to this version. Unfortunately, users of a Windows RT device are still left without the ability to try out the browser, as Chrome for Windows is still exclusive to running on x86 devices.
