New Menu Editor

The number of applications on a computer system starts out with a relatively modest number, but over time it increases so that it becomes more and more complicated its maintenance and even the mere knowledge of its existence as it fades into the depths of memory. But there are always a few programs that are especially useful, and used repetitively practically every time we get in front of the computer. Thus, one of the best known are those that make up the Office Suite, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Creating a new document type

Editing docx documents (Word's standard open format) is an activity I do daily both at work and in my leisure time. And for this, Windows 8, or any other operating system, gives me the ability to configure the default application with which documents with a specific extension will be opened.

The downside comes when I want to create a new document of a type that is not included in the very short list of document types documents that I can list in the context menu that I access by clicking the right mouse button.

Thus, for example with the Preview version of Office 2013, I find that in this menu I don't have the option to create a new Word, Excel or Access document.

New Menu Editor, a very useful little tool

When I searched the internet, the solutions found were, almost in all cases, directly modifying the Windows Registry, which I consider somewhat ">

Thus, looking for a more convenient solution, I have come across a small Windows 7 utility called New Menu Editor from the company RBSoft that , in its latest version, works on the Windows 8 desktop. It is curious that from the website of the company that developed it there is no link to its download, having to use the gigantic software library from Cnet.com.

The installation is very easy and simple, just like the tool; which, once executed, shows me a window divided into two zones. On the left we have a list of all the extensions and types of documents that are registered in our system, and on the right the content of the menu ">

This is how I can add or replace the entries I want to have on hand when creating a new type of document on my computer. If anything it would have been noteworthy that the order of appearance of the links could be changed.

I hope it is as useful to you as it is to me.
