Hulu will also be on Windows 8 on the 26th: who else is missing?
Table of contents:
It seems that Skype is not the only application that Microsoft has ready for launch. Hulu will also be available in the Windows Store from the 26th, adapted to the Modern UI interface and integrated with the entire system. For those of you who don't know it, Hulu is a service to watch series over the Internet at a fairly cheap price. The truth is that the Modern UI interface seems tailor-made for this type of application. Hulu's designers have been able to take advantage of it very well: without controls, the main page is dominated by series organized by sections: the ones you watch, and featured, recommended and popular series.
With Hulu you can pin series to the home screen, to have them just a click away. The downside is that, from what they say, it's just a shortcut: the tile won't show any additional information about what the last chapter is, or comments from other users, or anything that could be useful to us.
Hulu also supports Windows 8's docked mode, which allows you to run two Modern UI apps at the same time. In his own words, you can watch Gossip Girl at the same time you write an email proving Fermat's Last Theorem. It's funny, because I've wanted to do this many times and I've never known how to do it. But hey, thanks to this now I'll be able to prove theorems while watching series calmly and without problems.
Like Skype, Hulu will be available on Windows 8 starting on the 26th. And the bad: Hulu is only available in the United States, although you can always cheat with proxies.
This is just the beginning: there are still more applications to come
Microsoft has a lot of muscle in the developer ecosystem, and I'm sure Skype and Spotify aren't the only apps preparing us for the launch of Windows 8.
For example, I wouldn't be surprised to see a version of Facebook for Windows 8 . Despite the fact that the system is already very well integrated with the social network, a complete application is always necessary if you are an intensive user: Windows Phone, for example, has an official Facebook application despite being perfectly integrated.
I imagine that Adobe is also preparing light versions of its applications for Windows 8, at least Photoshop. It may not be ready for the release of Windows 8, but I'm pretty sure something similar is coming soon.
These two are the most plausible, although we could start speculating and we wouldn't finish: Pocket, Amazon, Flipboard... Microsoft is the company with the best relationship with developers, and I think that in this sense it is where they will surprise us on the 25th (mainly because the rest of Windows 8 already knows it). What applications do you think will appear at launch or in the following days?
