You can now download the beta of Edge 91 for iOS
Table of contents:
A few days ago we saw how Microsoft Edge arrived in the Dev Channel at the Google Play Store. Android already had the stable version, Canary and Dev, while iOS was still waiting, at least until now, because Microsoft already has the beta version ready for Apple's mobile operating system
Microsoft wants to bring its unified Edge browser to iOS users, a version of Edge that will make use of a common code base for desktop and mobile devices . We will have to wait until the end of this year, but the steps are being taken.
Edge Beta Coming to iOS
And if yesterday we saw how the Beta Channel version reached Linux, today it's time to talk about the Beta version for iOS, which as usual can be downloaded from the Test Flight app. From this link you can request to be part of the testing program.
Edge will have a same code base for mobile and desktop applications, something that will result in greater efficiency, since the same function can be enabled at the same time for different platforms. In this way all versions can have the same features and design.
In the case of iOS, the rendering engine is still WebKit (it's the base engine for the Safari web browser and other lesser known), but the code base has been updated and already offers the features that are available for Android and desktop apps.
"The version of Microsoft Edge 91 for iOS matches the desktop version and is one step ahead of the version we can download from theApp Store. A version that has a new reading mode, an improved interface and access to experimental options with the Flags menu."
You can sign up for the Edge 91 beta on iOS from this link with Test Flight, an application that you must then install on your phone to be able to download beta versions of applications.
