Animated GIFs could be coming to WhatsApp in its different beta versions
One of the pillars (not the only one) on which the success of Telegram or applications such as Facebook Messenger is based is the possibility that they offer users to make use of Animated GIFs That type of image that until a few years ago seemed to be forgotten and that has now returned stronger than ever.
Social networks and the aforementioned instant messaging clients are largely to blame for the explosion of this type of content. Wait a minute, among all those applications we have not mentioned WhatsApp? No, and the reason is that for now the instant messaging applicationdoes not support animated GIFs
Faced with the limitation of colors offered by GIF files (only 256 colors) and hence their low weight, this type of file has a great advantage that isthe amount of information they can transmit in a very small space, something that makes them ideal for sharing with messaging applications without bleeding too much data. In addition, any extract can be easily converted from normal video to animated GIF.
And this decision is something that could have its hours numbered, because apparentlycompatibility with these files would reach WhatsApp in a very short time time, at least in the beta versions of the different operating systems.
Among them iOS would be the first to receive this novelty (Android and Windows Phone would follow), since apparently the Beta version of WhatsApp would have been updated hours ago giving support for animated GIFs.
If we now receive an animated GIF on our Windows phone, to see it we must go to the photo gallery in Windows 10 Mobile to be able to see it in motion, something that would not be necessary when this function came to WhatsApp, first to beta versions and later to the general public.
One good news for users of animated GIF files and that is that there are real ninjas (affectionately said) in the use of this type of images that will surely welcome this novelty, especially when it is released publicly. And it is that for now these new features can only be used by users immersed in the betas program and therefore it is not publicly available."
