Mobile payment via NFC with Windows Phone
Mobile payments via NFC are increasingly coming to Windows Phone. It was one of the news that users liked the most and that we were able to comment on a few days ago. A function that would arrive with the Anniversary Update that is getting closer.
But it seems that as that moment approaches, clouds of doubts hang over this possibility in the form of compatibility with the _smartphones_ that could make use of itIf this absence is only temporary or in the end it becomes permanent is what will have to be seen, but first it is best to know the reasons that cause it.
Mobile payment would reach terminals equipped with Windows 10 Mobile through the Microsoft Wallet 2.0 application and to do so would use the open source system Host Card Emulation (HCE).
A secure payment system based on the generation of a virtual credit card number associated with ours that also collects data on the location where the payment is made and establishes a limited number of _off line_ payments in order to avoid fraud.
A secure system that a priori would be compatible with all models that have NFC and that have Windows 10 Mobile and the Anniversary Update . That in theory and it is that the MasterCard company has listed the terminals that for now are compatible with this system and we see how the number of models is quite small. "

This has been verified by a user, Jeremy Sinclair, from XDA Developers, who tried to install the Microsoft Wallet 2.0 app on a Lumia 1520 with Windows 10 Mobile and Build 14361. That's all correct but I couldn't get the option to pay when touching with NFC to appear This is the list of compatible terminals for now of the total of those that were expected and that appear in the top list:
- Lumia 640 XL
- Lumia 650
- Lumia 650 Dual SIM
- Lumia 950 / Lumia 950 Dual SIM
- Lumia 950 XL / Lumia 950 XL Dual SIM
Whether this reduced list is due to the prematureness of the functionality and that it is still under development is unknown. We hope this is just a first step and that the number of supported phones will be expanded to all those who meet the necessary requirements. We will be waiting for the arrival of the Anniversary Update to see how this list evolves.
