Tile Editor 8.1

Tiles Editor 8.1 is an application that has just come out of the oven. The same, created by the people of Movie Maker 8.1, offers a very complete tool to customize the main screen of our Windows Phone (only in its 8.1 version).

At first it may seem somewhat difficult and confusing to use, since the number of tools it has is very wide and it is necessary to try all of them to see what can be done. It is managed by projects. The first thing we will do is give it a name, select if it has the third size available, if its name appears in the lower left part, and the action it will perform:

• Do nothing.
• Start an application (from a list pre-configured by the developers).
• Start a setup (such as WiFi or mobile data).
• Open a web page.
• Send an email.
• Send an SMS.
• Start a phone call.

When we've added it, the next step is customizing it. We have 4 types of content and graphics to include:

• Geometric forms.
• Application logos.
• Image of some element like a battery, airplane and more.
• Text.

With all these tools we can design our main screen. It is ideal to review the internal configuration of each shape that we insert into the tile (for those who do not locate it, the section where it is “options”, “scale”, “move”, rotation) must be moved to the right.

Sometimes Tile Editor 8.1 has load times of a second or two, where it is very noticeable, for example, when resizing an image or shape. In my case I'm testing it on a Lumia 920, maybe this won't happen on a 930 (and maybe it's worse on a 520).

Tile Editor 8.1 is a very comprehensive tool for those looking for something more when it comes to configuring their home screen. It has a lot of options, and the price is $1.49 (but it has a trial version). It is only available for Windows Phone 8.1.
