The official TED app is now available on Windows Phone and Windows 8/RT
Table of contents:
The people of TED have released their official app for smartphones running Windows Phone and tablets and computers running Windows 8/RT. The problem is that they had a "9GAG attack", and all the app does is call the mobile version of their website, and it's even a little worse. But let's go by part.
TED for those who don't know it, is, among other pages, one of the best sites we have today on the internet It is a large selection of videos and presentations by experts in their field who give their opinion on a topic in 20 minutes (some less). For anyone interested in seeing where the world is headed, keep an eye on them as there are always new videos and national editions of TED.
Without going any further,Bill Gates had several presentationswhere he stopped to throw some magic at him.
But back on topic, TED's applications for Windows Phone and Windows 8/RT are nothing more than a box that calls the mobile version of its official pageEven, at least on the Windows Phone version, I had several moments where it seemed to “hang” and take time to respond to movements.
In any case, with the official application/page you will be able to see the videos of the presentation that you want. A very important detail is that it allows youto choose the sub titles in Spanish (as long as they are available) when viewing it. It has a search engine and certain contents that gather the presentations that you should see and others.
It's a pity that a web application with so much potential and good content ends up in this, but hey, it's better than nothing… I guess. Both versions of the TED app are free in the store.
