Launched in 2011, Duolingo has become one of the most popular language learning services on the internet. Although it all started on the web, part of its success is due to its careful and entertaining applications for smartphones. Available for some time on iOS and Android, now its corresponding version is also available on Windows Phone.
Duolingo's learning proposal is based on small levels that we complete as if it were a game. Each level contains a series of lessons with different tests that go from completing sentences to repeating words, going through the translation or selecting the correct answers.Nothing we haven't seen before, but rewarded with points and experience that give it a fun component and, to a certain extent, addictive.
From the first moment the playful component is present in the application Just see how in each lesson we will have a number of lives, represented for hearts, which we cannot exhaust before completing it. Also, when you first open Duolingo, you'll be asked to specify a goal based on how many experience points you want to earn each day, which will help remind you to practice a little each day.
With Duolingo we can try to learn different languages, depending on the offer of our habitual language. From Spanish, for example, we can sign up for courses in German, English, French, Italian and Portuguese; with both written and spoken tests for all of them.
After achieving success on other systems, with more than 50 million users, and receiving thousands of requests requesting an application for Windows Phone, Duolingo has decided to launch its application for Microsoft's mobile system. The application can now be downloaded from the Windows Phone Store for free The only requirement is to have Windows Phone 8.1.
