UC Browser is updated with privacy improvements

One of the most famous alternatives to Internet Explorer within Windows Phone is UC Browser, a multiplatform browser that for a couple of years years is available on Windows Phone, and which stands out for offering a lot of functions and tools that are not included in Microsoft's native browser, such as download management, private mode, speed dial, theme customization, and more.

And as if this browser wasn't complete enough, it has just received a major update, bringing new features related to privacy, download management and voice functions.

Thanks to the integration with Cortana we can scan QR codes and access downloads and history through voice commands

The first one is the possibility of using gestures on an image as a password, in order to protect the content of the browser. This works in a similar way to the image password in Windows 8, except that the pattern we define here cannot contain strokes or lines, but only touch specific points on the image.

In terms of downloads, UC Browser now allows us to choose the quality at which the videos are downloaded that we want to view offline , and also gives us access to the file system of the system when choosing where other types of files will be downloaded.

Finally, we have that this new version offers us full integration with Cortana, so we can use voice commands to invoke the history, downloads, or the QR code scanner that the browser has.

An alternative worth trying

I must admit that the last time I tried UC Browser was on a Lumia 800 running Windows Phone 7.5, and on that occasion it left me with a bad impression because I didn't feel it as fluid as the system's native browser. However, using it now in its latest iteration (version 4.2) I have been amazed, as it not only incorporates tons of features that are not in Internet Explorer, but also has improved in terms of loading speed, reachingrun almost as smooth as Microsoft's browser,

Its only drawback is that, paradoxically, for some it could offer too many functions, which means that when using it for the first time we require about 5 to 10 minutes to customize it, adapt to its interface and explore everything it has to offer, in order to get the most out of it.

If we have those 10 minutes of free time, I think it is highly advisable to invest them in giving UC Browser a chance, and let us be surprised by all that it has to offer us.
