Animated lock screens are now available for Windows Phone 8.1
Table of contents:
The animated lock screens was one of the features of Windows Phone 8.1 shown in the last Build, but they didn't arrive together with the new version of the operating system. It took three months to wait since its announcement but Microsoft has finally published the application responsible for providing a new, more dynamic image to the lock screen.
Live Lock Screen, which is the name of the application, allows you to modify the appearance of the Windows Phone 8.1 lock screen with a series of themes with animations included. The application is in beta phase and at the moment it includes only six themes, many of them with a similar aspect in which the animation that occurs when unlocking the terminal hardly changes.
This is perhaps the most spectacular aspect of the application: seeing how the clock, calendar, and notifications scroll or fade when you slide your finger from bottom to top on the screen. Microsoft has tried to take care of these effects so that they appear fluid and without noticeable jumps, but we will have to see how their performance is in older terminals or with less power.
For the rest, the only thing that we can modify on the lock screen is the background image shown. In this way we can request the use of Bing images or resort to our own, being able to configure the application to change the image every certain hours.
Live Lock Screen is totally free and it can already be downloaded in beta version from the Windows Phone Store in those terminals with Windows Phone 8 .1 installed. For now it is only available in English, although its use does not require knowledge of it given the few options available. Hopefully these will increase over time.
