'Hues'
Table of contents:
After the success of games like Threes and 2048 dozens of imitators came out who copied not only the mechanics but also their appearance . There are some of them on Windows Phone, but one more elaborate is 'Hues', a puzzle game in the style of the previous ones that has become one of the best alternatives for users of the Microsoft operating system.
The mechanics of 'Hues' are simple. Based on a 4x4 cell grid, we must move the different pieces that we have on the screen, trying to join two of the same color so that they merge into a new one.By doing so we will obtain a new piece of a different color whose value will be the sum of the other two. The goal is to combine as many pieces as possible to end up with a higher score.
When the game ends depends on the chosen mode. 'Hues' has three: 60 seconds, 75 moves and no limit In the first one we'll race against time to collect as many pieces as we can and get the highest score possible; in the second the limit will be in the number of movements; and in the third there is no type of limit so we can continue playing as long as pieces can be moved on the board.
The developers, ReFocus Labs, have opted for a visual style that draws directly from Threes while trying to give it a own personality. Thus, each of the pieces has its own associated character and as we get new ones, the colors of the interface will adapt.Their colorful appearance is completed by simple but successful transitions that complete a graphic section that is sufficient for what it proposes.
'Hues' can now be downloaded from the Windows Phone Store and can be enjoyed on both Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 8.1. The game is free and includes in-app purchases for some things, such as unlocking the unlimited mode or getting powers that will allow us to gain time or extra moves, change the color of the pieces or multiply our score.
