Follow the 24 hours of Le Mans on your Windows Phone with Eurosport Player

The most negative side of not being with the immense generality of the mass is that there are practically no live or delayed retransmissions of the motor test . Let alone the week of practice and qualifying that precedes it.

What's more, in Spain and in most of the world, only by paying can you access the chain that does the most complete monitoring of the automobile event and which is none other than Eurosport.

But even worse is that to be able to access this television I can only do it from a satellite subscription, type canal plus, or by internet tv platforms such as imagenio. Which is a pretty penny.

Access 24 hours via streaming

However I have found a very cheap way to keep track of the competition on a daily basis, and it has been to subscribe for a month ( just under €6) to Eurosport Player. Which carries out streaming broadcasts of the programming of two of its chains and other channels with special themes – one of them dedicated exclusively to the 24h of Le Mans.

For more joy, the main connections with the circuit are made in excellent Spanish with the three motorsport commentators I like the most on the current national scene: Javier Rubio , Santi Ayala and Tomás Saldaña.

In an event of this length (more than 30 hours in a row) I need to be able to have the television signal not only on the devices where I access via the Web, but also on my mobile phone to be able to follow it at any time and situation (as a good fan).

Thus those of Eurosport have published the App for these Smartphones in the Windows Phone Store, and that is the one that I come to analyze in this article.

When I enter the main menu I can access the two main Eurosport channels, a small preview of the most important of the month on course and to the program grid.

Streaming operation is very smooth, with good quality – tests are done on a Lumia 1520 with Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview – and with virtually no problems.

If anything, during the last half hour of qualifying on Thursday, on the main channel in Spanish, the video signal froze while the audio signal continued to work. However, this problem did not occur in the special channel signal.

In conclusion, I already have the cans of beer in the fridge, the family warned and lots of chips to enjoy the 24 hours of Le Mans from this Saturday until Sunday afternoon.
