The beta version of Facebook gains integration with Windows Phone 8.1 in its latest update

Since the arrival of Windows Phone 8.1 for developers, the fact that various messaging applications and social networks (Whatsapp, Facebook, Vine...) have stopped working properly or have its performance worsened is something that surely all of you have been able to verify.

In the case of Facebook, the beta version of the application became the one that worked best, even surpassing the stable version that anyone could download from the Windows Phone Store.

The problem with using this beta was that it implied losing various features of the application, such as the ability to access the Hub of Photos and sharing options, among other things, because it could not make use of the SEF (Social Extensibility Framework).

SEF is a set of social extension APIs coming with Windows Phone 8.1, with which developers can connect their apps directly with the operating systemThis allows you to provide a one-time login to your app, add integration with the Contacts and Photos Hub, and more.

In Windows Phone 8 the connection of an application with the OS could be done directly, but with the arrival of the new version of Windows Phone all the applications must make use of the SEF to make connections of this type.

Now Facebook beta has been updated for Windows Phone 8.1 using SEF, so users can download it without fear of missing out on any of the features that were previously available, while still getting the improved performance this beta offered over the current version.

As Joe Belfiore commented this Wednesday in one of his regular AMAs on Reddit, in June we will see an update of the public version from Facebook for Windows Phone 8.1, which will include what's currently in beta and more. In the meantime, you can install this version in the testing phase if you don't want to wait until summer:
