Top 3 Apps for Magic: The Gathering Players on Windows Phone

Although sites like TCGPlayer, Starcity Games and others have yet to release their official apps for Windows Phone (too bad for them), there are a good variety of utilitiesCreated by independent developers that are worth trying and having installed.

MTG Game Helper

Probably the weakest application on Magic (I take the liberty of calling it Magic now, instead of Magic: The Gathering), it allows to take the lives of the opponent, keep counter data and toss random numbers or a “coin” for heads or tails.

In its favor, it also has the possibility of adding more players to tell your life, especially for multiplayer games. In addition, it has a history that marks the amount of lives that were lost and at what minute of the game it was.

MTG Game Helper is free, and does what it offers well. It is available for Windows Phone 8 and 7. It is supported by one at the top, which doesn't bother you.

MTGBugs Next

Going to a much more complete and flexible application, we have MTGBugs Next. It integrates many tools in one place. First the life counter is quite good, because although it doesn't have the possibility of including more than 2 players, it has interesting things: in addition to keeping lives and showing you a history On the screen, it has a round time counter, a dice with different values (up to one for Planechase), a mana counter against games where you spawn a lot, and a shortcut to the camera.

Also has a database of letters (which is necessary to have internet to use), where we can see any letter from any edition that we want. When we enter one, it will show us data about it and the price it has based on TCGPlayer. The downside is that it has long loading times (that is, 1 or 2 seconds, but annoying).

Thanks to the database, we also have the possibility of importing decks that we are putting together into the application or a wish list to know what cards we are looking forand keep their prices handy.

MTGBugs Next also has a very practical news feed that contains the latest articles from the sites MTGBugs (official page of the application), Daily MTG, TCG Player, Star City Games and Channel Fireball .

And finally, there are tools for judges where there is direct access to the rules, a deck calculator (which allows you to add 1, 2, 3 and 4, and above shows the total), a timer for Drafts and quick information on violations.

MTGBugs Next is an application that is a pleasure to use, but unfortunately, since it is free, it is intrusive and there is no version available premium to be able to remove them. Still, it's still an excellent app for Magic players. It is available for Windows Phone 8 and 7.

UrzaGatherer Companion

Up to this point, MTGBugs Next seems to have everything we need, however, UrzaGatherer Companion is an app that I liked for a reason: the card browser is fast and fluid .

The application allows you to enter the latest expansions and see all the available cards ( although you can also filter them). When we select a card, it will show us the large image, the information about it and the sale price (I guess it averages with the TCPGlayer values) .

On the other hand, the application also has a life counter, a direct access to the PDF with the rules of the game and a news feed. But these tools are not included in the right way and lag behind others.

UrzaGatherer Companion is a free application and has no . It is available on Windows Phone 8, and has a version for Windows 8 as well.
