Make a game from scratch and in less than 48 hours, for the Tizen operating system and then easily migrate to Windows Phone 8.1, that's hard enough.
But making it desperately addictive, and ending up hurting my fingertips from killing bugs, deserves credit.
Thus, a team of young students from ESNE's Degree in Design and Development of Videogames achieved with the game Tap Tap Monster no not only win the TIZEN HACK BATTLE contest in its Spanish edition, but also they won the jackpot of the international edition in Paris
Squashing Bugs
The game has a simple mechanic widely used in Smartphone games of any operating system: a “Tower Defense”Where I have to crush every bug that crawls, flies, swims, runs or crawls towards my object or building to defend.
In Tap Tap Monster, I'm in an overhead view of a shower and different kinds of nasty critters want to escape down the drain, from a horrible death crushed by my fingers.
But the mechanics are not as simple as hitting anyone who appears, since in each round more will come and from all directions, if not they behave differently depending on the type of bug it is.
There are some armored vehicles that need a double hit to be destroyed; others that are like green slugs that split in two; an orange two-headed animal that divides into four, one of which must be doubled to squash it; and the blue ones, which with a single touch is enough to eliminate them.
In conclusion, a simple, fun, stressful game and that always leaves me raining blows on the screen, trying to avoid an inevitable outcome.
