Nokia remains obsessed with making its Lumia smartphones the best in photographic capabilities, whether in hardware or software. The latest is the application Nokia Refocus, presented at the recent Nokia World, which allows us to refocus and edit our photos once they have been captured.
Nokia Refocus captures different images over the entire focus range so we don't have to worry about taking our photos with the correct focus. Just capture the image first and then play with the focusTo carry out such a task, the application calculates and creates a depth map of the scene. Pressing the capture button collects multiple shots, each at a different focus, and produces a photo with a focus that can be adjusted later.
The effect is similar to that proposed by Lytro cameras and can be seen in some of the example photographs that Nokia has on its website. Simply click on different parts of the image to change the focus, instantly enhancing any photo.
"The possibility of changing the focus is not the only functionality that Nokia Refocus brings with it. With the application we can also highlight parts of our photos thanks to the Colour pop function, which keeps the color in one area while converting the rest of the image to black and white picture. The final result can be shared directly from the application, which will upload the image to our SkyDrive and provide an interactive link to it."
Nokia Refocus is available for download from the Windows Phone Store exclusively for Lumia phones with PureView technology These include the Lumia 920 , Lumia 925, Lumia 928 and Lumia 1020, which require the Amber update to be installed. The app will also be available with the new Lumia 1520 unveiled last month at Nokia World in Abu Dhabi.
