Office 2021 will arrive on October 5, accompanying Windows 11 as an alternative to Office 365 and the subscription system
Table of contents:
We already have the release date for Windows 11. It will arrive on October 5 and now we also know that another of the company's iconic products, the office suite Office 2021 , it will arrive the same day to replace the version we have been using up to now, Office 2019.
A long wait that Microsoft has put an end to by announcing that Office 2021 will hit the market coinciding with the arrival of Windows 11. An Office that is proposed as an alternative to those who do not want to pay a subscription using Office 365.
For those who do not want subscriptions
Dark Mode, now for real
Microsoft makes this announcement some time after the arrival of Office 2021 LTSC, an acronym for Long-Term Servicing Channel. This version of Office is the version with the highest level of implementation in the corporate environment and the version for all users inherits many of the tools that the LTSC version offers
Waiting to be able to test one of these versions, an interesting detail is that it seems that Microsoft will publish Office 2021 in 32-bit and 64-bit versionsIn recent months there had been some rumors circulating about the possibility that only the 64-bit version would finally arrive, but the truth is that, surprisingly enough, there are still quite a few 32-bit systems operating, both in the home environment as in the professionalThus, closing the doors of the new Office to these systems could mean leaving many users of the Microsoft suite without service.
We will not see cloud-based features in Office 2021 or those that are enhanced through the use of artificial intelligence, which are reserved to Office 365 and paying for a subscription. Leaving this aside, we will see some improvements.
Line Focus is here, a mode designed to eliminate distractions when browsing a Word document. There is also a now improved Dark Mode or the XLOOKUP function, which aims to facilitate the search in Excel spreadsheets. These are the new features we'll be looking at:
- Focus Line in Word to avoid distractions similar to a reading mode.
- XLOOKUP function: Helps find items in a table or range by row in an Excel spreadsheet.
- Support for dynamic arrays: New functions in Excel that use dynamic arrays.
- Dark Mode: All Office apps will include Dark Mode support.
There are no further details at this time, but hopefully both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Office will arrive with the aim of to make the office suite compatible with the largest possible number of computers.
