Office is updated in the Insider Program with a new design thanks to more current icons and improvements in operation
Table of contents:
Microsoft continues with its policy, which is leading them to renew the icons in some of its most iconic applications and the office suite office could not miss this appointment. A few weeks ago we saw how it was preparing to receive new icons, but time has passed and until now these had not reached many users.
A slow deployment that should however pick up speed thanks to build 11514.20004 that Microsoft has announced for users of the Office Insider Program in the Fast Ring.Users who will see the new icons arrive for the four applications that make up the suite.
Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook, all four will benefit from the new line of design with which Microsoft is endowing good part of the icons in their applications. We saw it with Skype and now it's Office's turn.
Faults present
The new icons appear in the shortcuts, but nevertheless and because it is an improvement that comes within the Insider Program, the update can still have bugs , hence the importance of the _feedback_ generated by users.
In this sense, there are errors related to Windows 10 Tiles, which still show the previous aesthetics, as well as the icons of the documents created with any of these applications. These still retain their previous appearance.
Cosmetic changes are always the most striking and this is something that happens again in this build. Changes and improvements that however are not the only ones that arrive under this new update. In parallel, there are improvements distributed by applications:
"In the case of Microsoft Word, now supports basic co-authoring of documents that contain macros. You can now simultaneously view and edit .docm files that are stored on OneDrive."
An improvement that has some observations In this sense, to access it both users must be in a compilation in which the function is available. Also, Auto Save and real-time typing are not available at this time. It only supports basic co-authoring.On the other hand, users can only be co-authors on the main document. VBA project macros cannot be co-authored.
