As is well known, Microsoft is currently working on what will be the next stable version of Office for the desktop, which will be called Office 2016 , and will be released later this year.

Until now, we didn't have much information about what's new in Office 2016, with the presence of a dark visual theme, the Tell Me assistant, and other minor changes being the only details that had leaked so far . But thanks to sources close to Neowin, we now have new detailed information about other new features that will be included in the future version of OfficeLet's review these changes one by one.

  • It will include forecasting functions that will allow better projections of data in time series.
  • It will be possible to group the data according to date in dynamic tables of data models.
  • You can report data from an OLAP database in an Excel spreadsheet using Microsoft PowerView
  • When modeling data in pivot tables, Excel will be able to automatically detect data relationships between the tables we are using
  • "An option to activate data analysis has been added, which allows Excel to work seamlessly with the new Power BI tools."
  • "
  • The File menu interface in all Office applications (also known as the Backstage interface) is improved, mainly by implementing small changes in buttons and labels that are expected to improve usability."
  • It will be possible to change the names of pivot tables and sections of them directly from the PowerPivot add-in.
  • "The Data Cards function will allow you to show, just by hovering the mouse over certain sections, hidden details of information that cannot be displayed at first glance in graphs or tables."
  • "
  • Lync completes the transition to the new brand Skype for Business, also incorporating several original features of Skype, such as the thumbnail view calls, a simpler and flatter interface for the main window, a messaging interface with chat bubbles, animated emoticons, and other visual changes."
  • All of these changes should be available in the final version of Office 2016, or via a free update, for those with an Office 365 subscription.

And of course, most likely Microsoft will continue to work on many other changes to be incorporated into Office by the end of the year , which is when this new version is expected to come out in its final edition.
