Microsoft updates Skype clients for Xbox One

Anonim

Skype keeps moving forward in its quest to become the best voice communication tool for all platforms. That's why Microsoft has just released updates to its iPhone, Xbox One, and Windows desktop clientsWhat innovations can we find in each of them? Let's take a look at them.

The platform that seems to receive the most improvements is the Xbox One, where support is added to display photographs sent from other devices, even allowing them to be displayed in full screen slideshow mode if we receive several of them. But even more interesting are the improvements in the snap mode, which now becomes much more powerful, making it possible to do more things without having to leave a game.

"

For example, we can now answer calls within snap mode, for which we can even invoke a voice command ( Xbox responds ). Just saying that command when receiving a call will anchor Skype to one edge of the screen, without interrupting what we are doing at that moment, although if we want, it is also possible to expand the call to screen complete from there."

The new snap mode also allows you to view a list of recent and favorite contacts, to initiate calls directly from there, and view a list with the text messages that we have received, although to answer the latter you still have to go to full screen view. Finally, the quality of the video call within snap mode is improved, by increasing the frame rate and the size of the video that is displayed.

"

For its part, Skype for iPhone introduces support for group voice calling , a feature that until now was exclusive to desktop clients. There are 2 ways to invoke this function, one is by touching a new start call button>"

Once the call is in progress, we are informed at all times if the members of the group are connected, or if there are any with problems, and we can even take someone off the call without having to disconnect others. There is currently a 4-person limit on iPhone group calls, but this is planned to be removed soon.

It is important to note that the Skype apps for iPhone and iPad are different, and therefore this feature will not yet be available for Apple tablets. We also don't know when it will be added to Windows Phone and Android clients.

And finally, we have the update for Windows desktop. Unfortunately, there is no more information about it here because Microsoft has not published any official changelog. We assume there will be performance improvements and bug fixes, but there is no data beyond that.
