If your company is not in the Cloud
Table of contents:
One of the characteristics of the new Microsoft, to which Steve Ballmer refers so much, is the permanent presence of Cloud Computing in each of its aspectsof the company&39;s developments."
So we have Skydrive, Windows Azure, Office 365, Dynamic and SharePoint On Line, Xbox Live (or whatever it's called), etc.
"To answer the question of why is Microsoft betting so heavily on this technology? I want to analyze the excellent work of IDC in a study on The situation of the Public Cloud among the top 500 companies in Spain in 2013, recently published in July 2013."
Cloud Computing migration is unstoppable
The first thing that draws the attention of the report is that the 500 companies included in the study have a presence in the Cloud. In other words, there is no one who understands using this technology as secondary or superfluous.
"In addition, the adoption of the Public Cloud is accelerating. Anticipating deployments in Private Clouds and giving greater prominence to coexistence in hybrid environments; which leads me to remember the words of the former CEO of Arsys, Faustino Jiménez, who forcefully stated that the future is the Public Cloud, since the Private and Hybrid Clouds will disappear over time."
The way in which the Cloud is used in Spain is also interesting, being mostly used as SaaS (Software/Applications as a Service), that is, using third-party business solutions with a payment format by use; followed by the use of IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) where the complexity of technological infrastructures is migrated to a Cloud service; and, finally, PaaS services (Platform as services) which indicates that little is being developed in Spain to be deployed in this technology.
The main cause or motivation for this accelerated movement towards the Public Cloud by Spanish companies could not be other than the budget. The market has already consolidated the reality that the use of this technology reduces infrastructure, licensing and labor costs
And, in these times of prolonged crisis, ">
What is the main reason for resistance when adopting Cloud services? Not surprisingly, the effect is ">the deep distrust, produced by ignorance, in the security of data and information.
Which leads more than 40% of the companies in the IDC study to declare that if the service is provided from outside the borders of Spain, this represents a problem.
In summary, if I see the greats adopt a technology, and all the professionals bet on it, it will be for a reason (and not I think it's for fashion).
