The next public build of Windows 10 will include Microsoft Edge
Table of contents:
Along with announcing that all Insiders will be en titled to a free, perpetual license to Windows 10 Final, Microsoft has also officially confirmed that the next public build of Windows 10 will include finally to the Edge browser with its final name, abandoning the Project Spartan brand."
This build will be released on the fast channel or fast ring , but the exact release date has not yet been revealed, although most likely it will be during the next week. Let's remember that the last build leaked on the web, 10147, already includes Microsoft Edge, so, at least internally, Microsoft has already finalized this brand change.
However, the transition from Spartan to Edge will bring a small inconvenience for those who are using Windows 10 on a daily basis: favorites, history, cookies and reading list of Project Spartan will be lost when upgrading to the next build on the fast channel.
Of all this information, the only ones that we can back up by means of a backup copy are the favorites, for which we have to go to the following directory:
%localappdata%/Packages/Microsoft.Windows.Spartan_cw5n1h2txyewy/AC/Spartan/User/Default/Favorites
Copy its content, and then save it in this other path:
%userprofile%/Favorites
"All of the above must be done before upgrading to the next build. Then, once we have updated, we must open Microsoft Edge, go to Options, Import bookmarks from another browser, and choose Internet Explorer as the source browser."
More changes: Insider Hub will no longer come pre-installed
"Another important change in the next build is that as the final version gets closer and closer, the Insider Hub app will no longer come pre-installed on the system, as Microsoft does not want the general public> "
Members of the Insider program who want to use it will have to reinstall it To do this, go to Settings > System > Apps & features > Manage optional features > Add a feature , then find the Insider Hub in an alphabetical list, and click Install."
Insiders will need to repeat this process each time they install new builds released between now and July 29. After that date, Microsoft will re-release preview builds with the Insider Hub app pre-installed.
Meanwhile, the Feedback application will continue to be integrated into the system, even in the final version of Windows 10 that will be released until on July 29, but it will show different functions depending on the account with which we log in. In particular, it will show functions associated with the Insider program only when we sign in with a Microsoft account linked to this program. This is partly why it is important that we link the Windows 10 preview to a Microsoft account registered in said program.
