Cortana and Bing now predict soccer match results

Anonim

There's no doubt that Microsoft is betting big on Cortana, its voice assistant for Windows Phone. They have announced that they are working at full speed to make it available in more countries, and there is even talk that it could be taken to other platforms, in order to offer a more complete experience to users. Meanwhile, advancements and updates to Cortana focus on new commands and features The latest one is the ability to predict outcomes of the soccer world cup matches

"

As we already know, Cortana in general acts more as an interface or front-end for information delivered by the Bing engine. Therefore, this is actually a Bing function, which was announced at the beginning of the World Cup, but since a few days ago it is also integrated into Cortana, so that its users can get predictions using voice commands such as who will win the game between the United States and Belgium? ."

Since this functionality has been available in Cortana, the voice assistant has had the opportunity to predict the results of 8 World Cup matches, hitting all of them (we can check these predictions on the Twitter account of one of Cortana's developers).

In case we don't use Windows Phone 8.1, or we don't want to activate Cortana on our phone, we can also check these forecasts through Bing, changing our location/language to States United - English, and then searching for ">Germany and Brazil will win, with a 57.8% and 69% probability, respectively.

And apparently this function would be just the first step towards a broader prediction system that wants to be implemented in Bing (and by hence also in Cortana). Among other things, we could soon receive predictions about which TV shows will have the most viewership tonight, which resorts will be the busiest this season, how they will evolve concert ticket prices, among other things. Undoubtedly very useful functions that will add value and differentiate Microsoft platforms (at least in the United States, the only place where these features are usually available).
