Table of contents:
Here's one of the best examples of the cross-platform efforts of the new Microsoft: OneNote The note-taking tool for developers Redmond is now also available on Mac OS, completing its presence on major desktop and mobile systems, as well as on the web. And in all of them for free.
All this has been announced in the last few hours by Microsoft along with a new API in the cloud that will allow any application to connect with OneNote, making it easier to capture, edit, consult, and share our ideas. It's now faster to send notes from any app to OneNote, making the tool a complete digital note-taking service
OneNote on Mac
Apple's desktop operating system was one of the few without an official OneNote client. Microsoft today fixed that gap with a version of its note-taking tool that is now available for free download from the Mac App Store.
On Mac, the OneNote application is modeled on the Windows version, with slight changes in its visual appearance to adapt to the Windows version the Apple. Like the rest of the Office tools, the Ribbon interface is preserved to access all the formatting and style options for our notes, or to insert images and other content.
Notebooks are also maintained to organize our notes by sections and pages. Among them we can navigate through the side drop-down or in the tabs, while the included search engine will help us find all those notes that we have stored. Sharing them will be as easy as emailing or keeping collaborative notes thanks to sync with OneDrive
More apps and tools
While distributing versions of the tool for free on major systems, Microsoft also wants to enhance synchronization between devices and the cloud. And it does so through a new API that makes it easy to send content from any application to OneNote, with the aim of turning the service into our digital memory bank.
To this end, Redmond's have started by creating their own tools. The first one is OneNote Clipper, a bookmark for Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, and Safari browsers. With it we can capture any web page and automatically save it in the quick notes of our OneNote account. Task that we can also perform by email, sending an email from the email account that we select to [email protected].
The other tool presented today by Microsoft comes in the form of an application for Windows Phone: Office Lens This will act as a pocket scanner and It will allow us to use our smartphone's camera to take pictures of documents that will later be adjusted, including character recognition, and stored in OneNote quick notes.

OneNote as a Service
But the main benefit of the new API is allowing third parties to integrate OneNote note-taking and sharing into their apps and devices Microsoft has already convinced several services and companies, including Epson, Feedly, IFTTT, JotNot or News360; whose names can be consulted on the OneNote website.
And is that OneNote.com is now the nerve center of the service.Today's is another step in the evolution of what started as a separate Office tool and has become a complete service with enough value on its own
To enjoy the new OneNote just have a Microsoft account and access the web to download the appropriate client for each device, without the need for any disbursement. However, users with subscriptions to services such as Office 365 will continue to enjoy premium features.
