'Bing It On': Microsoft challenges Google in a duel of search engines
Among Internet search engines, Google is undoubtedly the rival to beat, but in Redmond they believe they have found the formula with Bing Both They are convinced that their search engine is capable of providing more satisfactory results for the majority of people. To prove it, they have launched a new campaign in the US, with a video included, under the funny name 'Bing It On'.
The Bing team has been running internal tests for months to test their results against the competition and have discovered some preference for the results returned by their creation. To confirm this commissioned an independent study in which the results of searching for the same thing in both search engines were compared, eliminating any reference to brands, identifying details or, and letting the user choose which one was most helpful. After asking a sample of a thousand people, the result was clearly favorable to Bing: 57.4% opted for their search engine more often, while 30 , 2% stayed with Google and 12.4% chose a tie.
So now they have decided that anyone can carry out the test for themselves and for this they have created a website for us to carry out our own experimentIn it we will have to carry out five searches that will return two columns of results, being able to choose which one is more helpful: the results on the right, those on the left or a tie. At the end of the test we will know if Bing is really as good as it seems or if Google is still better for our searches.
As I was curious but distrusted my impartiality in the face of small details that the search engine from which the results of each column came from, I asked someone close to do the test and this is the result:
It seems that Bing would not be the choice in this case. Although keep in mind that the campaign is focused on the US and the results will surely vary a lot. And you, how have you been? Is Bing better suited to your searches?
UPDATE: It seems that the web no longer works from outside the US and now redirects to the main page of Bing .
