Rumors point to the arrival of a Surface Phone in 2017. The end of the Lumia brand?

Anonim

Could we be close to the end of the Lumia brand and thus one of the last remaining symbols of Nokia at Microsoft? This is the thought that many have when the arrival of a SUrface Phone is suggested, a terminal about which, although no data is known, we have been hearing rumors for some time.

We already know the saying and when the river sounds... and the truth is that it is true or not, more and more indications and comments and news in specialized media point to the arrival of this new saga in the not very long term within those of Redmond.

And this time the words, or the data, come from nothing more and nothing less than Daniel Rubino, editor-in-chief at Windows Central, who assures that through trusted sources we will see a Surface Phone, although we can entertain ourselves in some way to liven up the wait, because a launch before 2017 is not trusted (we already said that Microsoft was not in the business of offering new terminals in 2016).

But the surprises do not end here and it is that apparently the Surface Phone would arrive in three versions, each one oriented to a niche specific market and each with different prices, we no longer know if with different specifications.

In this sense we could see how the difference between the two usual sectors such as consumer and business is added and on the other hand one is added that we could equate to the _early adopter_ or perhaps fan of a brand or operating system.

  • Business
  • Prosumer / Enthusiast

Would Microsoft be kicking the air for refloating Windows 10 Mobile?

In this way we could be, as the name indicates, before a device that makes use of the stylus (especially after dealing with Wacom) as is the case with the Surface that we all know, in the business case, which will have a very good camera and screen in the standard consumer-oriented range and in the third case... well, to be honest, we don't understand what Redmond could expect.

Also, this entire process coincides with the release of Redstone 2, which, let's remember, has been postponed until spring 2017 to coincide with the new Windows 10 devices

What does seem difficult is the coexistence of this new family with the current Lumia range, especially if we think that it is of a launch that would take place a year and a half after (more or less) the release of the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL.
