Microsoft shows the specifications that Windows 10 smartphones should have

To guide manufacturers, Microsoft has published the specifications that Windows 10 terminals should have to ensure a good experience for users users. The Redmond company separates the terminals into “Value Phone”, “Premium Phone”, and “Value Phablet”.
Translated, these qualifiers would be low-end terminals, high-end, and a mid-range phablet. For the “Value Phone” the company recommends:
- A low-end or entry-level processor
- 1GB RAM memory.
- Internal storage from 4 to 8GB with expansion with Micro SD.
- A 3.5 to 4.5-inch display with WVGA (8XX x 480) to qHD (960x540) resolution.
- A thickness less than 10.5 millimeters, and a weight less than 135 grams.
- A battery larger than 1400 mAh, which ensures a day of use.
- Two cameras, a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 0.3-megapixel front camera.
- 3G (LTE/Cat 3)/802.11b/g/n, microUSB, 3.5mm jack, Bluetooth LE
As for the “Premium Phone”, we have:
- High-end processor.
- RAM memory from 2 to 4GB.
- Internal storage from 32 to 64GB, with MicroSD slot.
- Screen from 4.5 to 5.5 inches, with resolution FHD (1920x1080) to WQHD (2560x1440).
- Thickness less than 7.5 millimeters, and a weight less than 160 grams.
- Battery greater than 2500 mAh, which ensures a day of use.
- 20-megapixel rear camera with Flash and OIS, and a 5-megapixel front camera.
- LTE/Cat 4+ /802.11b/g/n/ac 2x2, USB, 3.5mm jack, Bluetooth LE, NFC
And finally, the “Value Phablet” should load:
- A mid-range processor.
- 2GB RAM memory.
- 16GB internal storage with expansion with MicroSD card.
- Screen from 5.5 to 7 inches, with a resolution greater than 720p.
- Thickness less than 10 millimeters, and a weight less than 175 grams.
- A battery larger than 3000 mAh, which ensures a day of use.
- 5-megapixel rear camera and 3-megapixel front camera.
- LTE/Cat 3 /802.11b/g/n/ac 2x2, USB 3.0 type-c, 3.5mm jack, BT LE, NFC
As we can see, they seem to go quite a bit by what the market is using. In any case, this should be a minimum level where companies must operate, so surely we will not see terminals with exactly these specifications.
And focusing a bit on the high-end terminal, the specifications are very consistent with what was rumored in the Microsoft Lumia 950, so we can assure that this smartphone would be quite close to what was mentioned above.
Microsoft is slated to have a keynote event in New York on October 6, where it would reveal: Lumia 950 and 950XL, Surface Pro 4, and Microsoft Band 2.
